Mr. Daniels is an experienced venture capital investor, entrepreneur, and manager. He is currently Chairman and CEO of Wall Street Institute International, a worldwide leader in English language instruction. At Wall Street Institute, Mr. Daniels led the turnaround of this $200 million company and recently completed the management buy-out of the business from Laureate Education with the support of Carlyle Ventures. Wall Street Institute operates 350 language schools in 25 countries around the world.
Prior to joining Wall Street Institute, Mr. Daniels was the Managing Director responsible for all K-12 investments for Sylvan Ventures, the $400 million venture capital unit of Sylvan Learning Systems. As the third member of the Sylvan Ventures team, his responsibilities included setting segment investment strategy, identifying and completing investments and taking positions on the Boards of Directors of portfolio companies. During this time Mr. Daniels also launched and served as CEO for Connections Academy, a successful virtual charter school company.
Prior to joining Sylvan Ventures, Mr. Daniels was Senior V.P. of Strategy and Corporate Development for Promus Hotel Corporation. In this role, Mr. Daniels was directly responsible for coordinating the strategic direction of this multi-billion dollar hospitality company and for directing Corporate Development activities. In previous roles Mr. Daniels has been the CEO of Experior Assessments, a leading provider of state certification assessments, and V.P. of Operations for USF&G. Prior to USF&G, Mr. Daniels was with the leveraged buy-out group of Heller Financial for ten years.
Mr. Daniels received his M.B.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin. He resides in Baltimore with his wife and two daughters.
